Our Organization’s History
Established in 1984, Equitas Health is a regional nonprofit community healthcare system. A federally-designated Community Health Center, it is one of the largest LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS healthcare organizations in the United States. With 21 offices in 13 cities, Equitas Health serves tens of thousands of patients in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia each year.
In 1984, a grave new threat struck. We answered the way humans have throughout history: united and ready to fight. Relatively little was known about HIV/AIDS at the time. But we knew our loved ones in the LGBTQ community were getting sick and dying, and we knew the resources in our battle were lacking. Soon, this grassroots movement spread across the state and a collective formed.
We are proud to engage with our community members and strive to bring health disparities to light and to offer safe, inclusive, comprehensive healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community, those living with HIV/AIDS and anybody seeking a welcoming healthcare home.
A Brief History of RED Dayton Table Design Gala
Tom: “Back then, we lost so many people that my whole idea of giving was that if I could save one life, it was worth every penny I had.”
The RED Dayton Table Design Gala was created in response to a clear need for LGBTQ+ healthcare equality and to gather a community struggling in the midst of the AIDS epidemic.
Since its inception in 1996, this event has raised over $2.5 million to support our healthcare mission. This one-of-a-kind event was created to raise critical funding to support Equitas Health’s mission to provide care for all in the Miami Valley.
What can we expect?
RED Dayton features artistically curated table designs matching a yearly theme to marvel at while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and craft cocktails. After a delicious three-course dinner, visit our silent auction filled with unique items and experiences and dance the night away with our DJ.
Who’s invited?
This event is open to the general public with the purchase of a ticket. All are welcome to attend! If you’re a designer, or interested in sponsoring a private or corporate table, please contact us.
